New Executive Director At The Washington County Fair Park
WEST BEND, Wis. (November 11, 2016)
The board of directors of the Washington County Agriculture and Industrial Society (AIS) has selected Kellie Boone as its next Executive Director. Boone will be in charge of the 133 acre Washington County Fair Park and Conference center, the site of the annual Washington County Fair and the location of the new Silver Lining Amphitheater donated by West Bend Mutual Insurance.
She will fill a position that was held by Sandy Lang, who in one capacity or another, has been involved with the Washington County Fair for 43 years. Lang, resigned as Executive Director in early September initiating a search for her replacement. Roger Kist, Washington county Supervisor and Fair Park Board member, served as Interim Executive Director. Other Board members, staff and Fair Park volunteers, including Sandy Lang, provided support and assistance during the transition.
Most recently, Boone served the community as Event Manager of the Downtown West Bend Association for the past five years. Under Boone’s leadership, “Music on Main” and the Farmer’s Market have thrived. Boone believes “those events are in great shape for my successor.” She shared at the time of her acceptance that she is “excited about this new opportunity” and is “looking forward to continue the success of the Washington County Fair Park and Conference Center.” Boone also announced that she “is eager to start working with the numerous committees and volunteers that plan and run the Washington County Fair.”
Tony Warren, President of the AIS board confirmed that “we reviewed 29 applications” and “we were highly impressed with Kellie Boone. She was very enthusiastic about the opportunity and looks forward to becoming more active in the other communities of Washington County.” “Developing new partners, and maintaining positive relationships with past sponsors will be high on my list priorities” said Boone. “Fair Park is a gem and should be the pride of the entire county.”
Boone has two daughters, Tiana age 14 and Hailey age 10 and recently purchased a new home in the heart of West Bend. She will assume her new role at the Fair Park on December 1st.
